Asked 15th Jan, 2019; I am working on ECG signal processing using neural network which involves pattern recognition. As I need to collect all the data from Matlab to use it as test signal, I am finding it difficult to load it on to the Matlab. I am using MIT Arrhythmia database here. The signal needs to be indexed and stored as data structure in Matlab compatible Physiological signals, such as the electrocardiogram (ECG), the electrocorticogram (ECoG), the electroencephalogram (EEG) and the electromyogram (EMG) are mostly non-stationary. The boundaries and peaks of P, T waves and QRS complexes were manually annotated by cardiologists. Within the header (.hea) file of most of these ECG records is a detailed clinical summary,
The database contains 310 ECG recordings, obtained from 90 persons. Each recording contains: ECG lead I, recorded for 20 seconds, digitized at 500 Hz with 12-bit resolution over a nominal ±10 mV range; information (in the .hea file for the record) containing age, gender and recording date. The MIT-BIH Arrhythmia Database contains 48 half-hour excerpts of two-channel ambulatory ECG recordings, obtained from 47 subjects studied by the BIH Arrhythmia Laboratory between 1975 and 1979. George has been a fundamental part of PhysioNet since the beginning, stretching back into the late 70s and early 1980's.

Although the twelve-lead ECG is the standard diagnostic screening system for many cardiological issues, the limited accessibility of twelve-lead ECG devices provides a rationale for smaller, lower-cost, and easier to use devices.
